THE ASSEMBLY OF STATE LEGISLATURES

STATE LAWMAKERS - BIPARTISAN LEADERS

The Legislators that served on The Assembly served the citizens they represent by ensuring that the states were able to collectively check federal authority by calling a convention of the states for proposing amendments. The Assembly of State Legislatures convened in a politically pure environment comprised only of state legislators. That ensured that only the concerns of citizens were represented, not those of special interest groups.

The Assembly of State Legislatures (ASL) passed a set of proposed rules on June 17, 2016. This was the purpose of the ASL. The organization now remains in a dormant state until such a time as state legislatures deem it necessary to once again call a meeting. This website contains the details of our meetings, as well as the adopted rules. For information on how a convention for proposing amendments should function, see Article V.
