THE ASSEMBLY OF STATE LEGISLATURES

December 7, 2013

In its first meeting, the ASL, then known as the Mount Vernon Assembly, was organized and a set of primary goals were identified.

 

June 12-13, 2014

The organization was renamed the Assembly of State Legislatures, and the objective to write the rules and procedures under which an Article V convention would function was drafted.

 

December 8-9, 2014

 

In this meeting of the Assembly, executive committee elections were held, and discussions began on what the formal rules of an Article V convention should be.

November 11-13, 2015

At this meeting of the Assembly, draft rules were debated and amended.

 

 

June 16-17, 2016​

​

The final meeting took place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA. This was just down the street from Independence Hall where the US Constitution was drafted. Currently-serving state legislators made the final edits to the drafted rules. They were then adopted and signed.
